LNE at
"Solidarity Souk"

June 2023

LNE participated in the “Solidarity Souk,” an event organized by the staff representatives of the French Embassy in Lebanon in collaboration with France Voluntaries and with logistical support from the French Institute of Lebanon.

The two days event, aimed at promoting solidarity among NGOs and to contribute to local development across Lebanon. It provided a platform for NGOs and local artisans to showcase and sell their products in an equitable manner.

In a festive and charming atmosphere, approximately 40 NGOs participated, focusing on preserving artisanal crafts and assisting the most vulnerable members of society. Visitors of all ages discovered local products, interacted with exhibitors, and participated in cultural activities.

The LNE booth, presented a diverse array of hand-crafted crochet gifts and bags created by “L’Atelier du Bonheur” as well as, a selection of organic, natural soaps for facial treatments, lip care, and body scrubs, produced by “Les Anciens”. Both brands share a common mission of supporting and empowering housewives and women working from home.

Destination Management Organization
DMO

Travel and tourism are one of the fastest-growing economic sectors on the globe. LNE in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Union of Jezzine Municipalities supported the launch of the first Destination Management Organization – DMOs in Lebanon.

DMO’s play a key role in the long-term sustainable development of emerging destination, advocate for increased investment to enhance the visitor experience and serve as a gateway, formulating an effective travel and tourism strategy. According to the Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), each USD spent in destination marketing generates USD 38 in visitor spending across international markets.

Strategic planning, setting up a competitive edge, implementation of the destination tourism policy, tourism product development, workforce development, and sustaining the cultural heritage of a destination, are key factors to the success of a DMO.

DMO’s represent regional tourism stakeholders, providing its leisure visitors and MICE travel access to updated information. They are a one-stop-shop, maintaining a physical and online presence, for information and promotional material.

Wine Tourism

January 2022

The Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Ministries of Tourism and Industry, the National Institute of Vine and Wine and the LNE, launched the wine tourism program in Lebanon at the headquarters of the “Adyar” Foundation of the Lebanese Maronite Order in Kfifan.

LNE’s President Ghassan El Khoury, stressed in his allocution the importance of promoting economic development to create job opportunities and activate the trade movement between Lebanon and the world through sustainable solutions and stimulating agricultural, industrial and tourism projects through integration and cooperation between official departments, the private sector, chambers of commerce, unions and cooperatives. “Marketing Lebanese wines with the aim of empowering the rural areas and creating sustainable programs for the development of their productive sectors”.

He also pointed that wine tourism is witnessing global growth that secures high incomes, whereby the tourist visiting a region with vineyards and a winery, learns about the people’s lifestyle, heritage, customs, cultures, traditions, and values of life. With each bottle of wine, they take along the aroma of the wood of its barrels and cellars, the characteristics of fermentation, distillation, packaging and marketing and henceforth become ambassadors of the visited area which directly contributes to the development of the local economy.

LNE presented a nine-point roadmap for activating wine tourism, sharing that sustainability can only be assured by applying modern technology in grape cultivation, harvesting, production, appearance and taste and the importance of preserving the local environment and the certain methodology to support the national economy and increase national exports by securing foreign currencies.

Following the keynote speeches, the audience were able to savor the finest Lebanese wines, where they pledged continuous support to the sector.

Developing the Arak Sector

Alongside our pledge to support the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Lebanon and specifically, SDG 9, SDG 12, and SDG 17, which encourage industry, innovation, infrastructure, responsible consumption and production and forging partnerships to achieve the goals, LNE participated for the third year in organizing the Lebanese Arak Day at the University of the Holy Spirit – Kaslik (USEK) in Zahle.

This dedicated workshop, held in the presence of the Minister of Industry, Mr. George Bochikian, and the General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Louis Lahoud,  is aligned with our preset goals since establishment, foremost among which is strengthening the Lebanese economy in its various sectors, focusing on Lebanese products to enhance the manufacturing processes and marketing brands across the globe within a clear national strategy, consolidating public-private partnerships and building bridges of national support from the Lebanese diaspora.

1) Critical points and their risks during the production of traditional Arak
2) The effect of the geographical location of the anise on the sensory quality of the Arak produced
3) Improving the distillation process: assessing the quality and the quantity of the Arak
4) The making of a successful marketing campaign

Outcome:

Planning a guide on manufacturing process and marketing tools for the Lebanese Arak industry.

Domestic Tourism Campaign

September 2020

Tourism as a sector represents a great wealth and income generator for our nation. Acknowledging this fact, we analyzed that exploiting it presented an opportunity with high and immediate returns even within morose times.

Accordingly, LNE launched a social media campaign promoting local tourism focusing on domestic, religious, cultural eco-tourism among many others.

Memorandum of cooperation With IDAL

A memorandum of cooperation between LNE and the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) to support and stimulate the productive sectors in Lebanon such as agriculture, industry, tourism, technology and others, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and integration between the public and private sectors to find sustainable solutions and to revitalize the national economy through economic and investment projects in cooperation between the resident Lebanon and Lebanon abroad.

E-Motor Exhibition

A panel discussion on future job opportunities in renewable energy and e-mobility, organized by LNE, Green Mind and IndiAct.

The debate hosted Notre Dame University’s (NDU) Dean of Engineering; American University of Sciences and Technologies’ (AUST) Dean of Engineering; Université St. Joseph’s (USJ) Head of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Water; and the Chairman of the Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA), at the Forum de Beyrouth during the e-Motor Show Exhibition.

Religious Tourism Press Conference

February 2018

The declaration of 2018 as the Religious Tourism Year, in partnership with the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants. More than 3,000 Muslim and Christian religious sites were recognized, thus placing Lebanon on a prestigious Religious Tourism map allowing pilgrims from various religions access to new destinations.

LNE Sustainable Energy Conference

March 2018

LNE first thematic conference, dealing with the sustainable energy sector in Lebanon, held at University Saint Esprit Kaslik – USEK.

15 speakers, 4 sponsors and 300 professional attendees.

This conference discussed Lebanon’s official targets for 2020  as well as the vision for 2030. Focusing on a sector that has become one of the main drivers of energy investments in the country attracting more than USD 700 million of investments and employing a workforce of more than 10,000 persons while projecting increased potential.

Highlighting the important role of universities, startups and the technical readiness of the electrical grid to integrate such scale of renewable energy projects.

A national economic conference, held under the High Patronage and valuable presence of the President of the Lebanese Republic, the Prime Minister, local and foreign officials, outstanding keynote speakers and over 1,500 professionals.
